Gut fiber tested as new hope for bowel disease

NCT ID NCT06050811

Summary

This study tested if a special dietary fiber, called a prebiotic, could help control ulcerative colitis by improving gut bacteria and reducing symptoms. Thirty-eight adults with mild to moderate disease took the prebiotic or a placebo powder for four weeks each, and researchers measured their symptoms, stool samples, and blood tests. The goal was to see if this natural approach could calm gut inflammation and improve daily life for patients.
