First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a daily prebiotic drink (containing inulin) can improve blood sugar control in 30 postmenopausal women with prediabetes. Participants will consume the drink or a placebo for 4 weeks. The goal is to see if this simple dietary supplement can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
inulin (a prebiotic fiber)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to help postmenopausal women with prediabetes improve their blood sugar control.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants and a short 4-week duration. Results may not be generalizable, and the effect on long-term diabetes prevention is unknown.
