First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether rinsing the nose with povidone-iodine (a common antiseptic) after sinus surgery helps people with chronic sinusitis recover better than standard rinses. 48 adults who had sinus surgery used either saline, mucomyst, or diluted povidone-iodine for three months. The researchers checked symptoms, nasal healing, and hearing safety to see which rinse worked best and was safest.
