Ear device could tame debilitating POTS symptoms

NCT ID NCT07026643

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a gentle electrical stimulation applied to the ear (auricular vagal neuromodulation) can help people with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). POTS causes a rapid heart rate upon standing, along with fatigue, brain fog, and other symptoms. The trial will randomly assign 30 participants to receive either active stimulation or a sham (inactive) device for 3 months, while they continue their usual treatments. The goal is to see if this therapy can reduce heart rate spikes, improve blood flow to the brain, and enhance quality of life.
