Arm IV nutrition tested to speed colon surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT06737211
Summary
This study tested if giving liquid nutrition through a standard arm IV (peripheral parenteral nutrition) helps patients recover better after major colon surgery. Researchers compared this method to usual care in 200 patients who had surgery for conditions like cancer or inflammatory bowel disease. The goal was to see if this early nutrition support could reduce complications, improve healing, and help patients get back to eating normally sooner.
