Summary

This study tested a strategy of using rapid, point-of-care diagnostic tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in pregnant women attending antenatal clinics in Zimbabwe. Over 1,000 women were offered testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, syphilis, and hepatitis B, along with immediate treatment and partner notification. The goal was to see if this approach improves detection and management of STIs in a primary care setting.
