New blood test may predict colorectal cancer recurrence
NCT ID NCT07492238
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a detailed blood test can help doctors see how well treatment is working and predict if cancer will come back in people with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver or lungs (up to 5 spots). The test checks for tumor DNA, RNA, proteins, and other markers in the blood. Researchers will follow 120 patients for up to 24 months to see if the test results match with cancer progression or recurrence.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Plasma multi-omics detection (ctDNA, cfRNA, proteomics, metabolomics)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a blood test that helps doctors personalize treatment and predict recurrence in colorectal cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 120 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The tests are experimental and not yet proven to improve outcomes.
