Placenta patch may heal stubborn leg wounds

NCT ID NCT07230340

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a patch made from donated human placenta tissue, plus standard wound care, helps close nonhealing venous leg ulcers better than standard care alone. About 70 adults with ulcers present for at least 4 weeks will take part. Those who get standard care first may later switch to the placenta treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

dehydrated human placenta tissue (dHPT)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a new treatment option to help heal stubborn venous leg ulcers faster.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 70 people. The treatment may not work better than standard care, and results may not apply to all patients.
