Pistachio power: could a handful of nuts improve how your body burns energy?

NCT ID NCT07340125

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether eating pistachios as a snack can improve metabolic flexibility — how well your body switches between burning carbs and fats for energy. Researchers will compare four days of pistachio snacking to four days of normal eating in 60 healthy overweight or obese adults aged 25-45. They'll measure metabolism at rest, during exercise, and after exercise, along with diet quality, sleep, and physical activity.
