New hope for tough leukemia: drug combo trial launches
NCT ID NCT07508982
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a combination of two drugs, azacitidine (a standard chemotherapy) and APG1252 (a new targeted therapy), in people with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The goal is to see if the combo is safe and can help control the disease. About 52 participants will be enrolled, including those whose cancer has returned or not responded to prior treatment, as well as some newly diagnosed patients with specific AML subtypes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Azacitidine and APG1252 (Pelcitoclax)
What this could lead to
If this works, it could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat AML, potentially improving remission rates.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 52 participants, so results are uncertain. The drug combo may cause side effects or not work better than existing treatments.
