Could a simple scan reveal which cancers are hiding a dangerous protein?
NCT ID NCT07301814
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new PET imaging probe that targets a protein called CLDN18.2, found in some stomach, pancreatic, bile duct, and esophageal cancers. Researchers will scan 56 people (patients and healthy volunteers) to see if the scan can accurately detect tumors and guide treatment choices. The goal is to improve diagnosis and help doctors decide who should receive CLDN18.2-targeted therapies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CLDN18.2-specific PET imaging probe (a radioactive tracer)
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors better identify which patients might benefit from CLDN18.2-targeted therapies, improving personalized cancer treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage imaging study with only 56 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The tracer's safety and accuracy are still being evaluated.
