Lab-Grown tumor avatars could personalize breast cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT06459791
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new approach for metastatic breast cancer patients. Doctors take a biopsy of a tumor and grow it in the lab to create a 'tumorogram'—a map showing which drugs might work best. Then, patients receive a treatment chosen based on this map. The goal is to see if this personalized approach leads to better tumor shrinkage within 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- personalized tumorogram-based therapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could help doctors choose more effective treatments for metastatic breast cancer patients, potentially improving response rates.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early proof-of-concept study with only 110 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The tumorogram may not always predict treatment success.
