Blood tests may reduce unnecessary scans for metastatic breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT04597580

First seen Dec 17, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether simple blood tests can predict when a patient's cancer is stable, so they can skip some routine scans. About 97 women with ER-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer taking hormone therapy will give blood samples at regular checkups. Researchers will use these samples to build a smart algorithm that tells doctors when a scan is truly needed, aiming to reduce unnecessary hospital visits and stress.
