Can Mind-Body techniques and drugs ease stress during ovarian cancer surgery?
NCT ID NCT05429970
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a combination of stress-reducing drugs (propranolol and etodolac) and mind-body techniques (resilience training and music therapy) can help women with advanced ovarian cancer feel less stress before, during, and after surgery. The study will enroll 35 participants and primarily aims to see if this approach is feasible. If it works, it could lead to better recovery experiences.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Propranolol and etodolac (drugs), plus mind-body resilience training and music therapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could point toward a way to reduce stress and improve recovery for women undergoing ovarian cancer surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study (35 people) testing feasibility, not effectiveness. The results may not apply to all patients, and the drugs have side effects like low blood pressure or stomach issues.
