First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase II trial tests the drug cemiplimab, an immunotherapy, given before and after surgery for people with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer that has high levels of a protein called PD-L1. About 33 participants will receive cemiplimab for three cycles, then undergo surgery, followed by ten more cycles. The main goal is to see how many patients have no cancer left in the removed tissue.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

cemiplimab

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that adding cemiplimab around surgery helps control lung cancer and may improve long-term outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 33 participants. It may not prove effective, and side effects from immunotherapy can be serious.
