First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special ultrasound-guided nerve block (PENG block) can help control pain and reduce the need for extra pain medicine in 40 adults undergoing a minimally invasive heart valve replacement called TAVI. The block numbs nerves around the hip area. Researchers measured how much fentanyl was needed during the procedure and checked pain scores and muscle strength afterward.
