New nerve block may ease hip surgery recovery for seniors

Summary
This study tests if a special nerve block (PENG block) can lower inflammation and improve pain control in 60 elderly patients (ages 65-100) having hip replacement. The block is given before surgery under spinal anesthesia. Researchers will measure inflammation markers in the blood and pain levels after surgery.
