PEMF therapy fails to boost pain relief for slipped disc patients
NCT ID NCT07263737
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy to standard physical therapy could further reduce nerve pain and disability in people with a slipped disc in the lower back. 46 adults with leg pain for at least 3 months took part. Both the PEMF group and the placebo group improved, but PEMF did not provide any extra benefit for pain, flexibility, or quality of life.
