NCT ID NCT07443462

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tests whether pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy can reduce pain and improve function in people with inflammatory knee osteoarthritis. Fifty participants will receive either active PEMF or a sham treatment twice a week for 8 weeks. The study measures pain, stiffness, quality of life, and knee changes on MRI.

Active substance
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to ease knee pain and improve function for people with inflammatory knee osteoarthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early pilot study with only 50 people. It may not show clear benefits, and results might not apply to all types of knee osteoarthritis.
