New study tests safer, faster fertility option for PCOS patients

NCT ID NCT07171970

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study compares two fertility treatments for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): a simpler in vitro maturation (IVM) method with fresh embryo transfer versus standard in vitro fertilization (IVF) with frozen embryo transfer. The goal is to see which approach leads to more live births while reducing risks like ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. About 600 women will take part, and the results could help doctors choose the best, safest option for PCOS patients.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

estradiol valerate, progesterone, dydrogesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer women with PCOS a simpler, safer fertility treatment that avoids the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and reduces time to pregnancy.

What could go wrong

This is a single-center trial, and results may not apply to all clinics. The IVM approach may have lower success rates than IVF, and fresh transfer could increase cycle cancellation risk.
