NCT ID NCT06624956

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 30, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether giving a mix of glucose, insulin, and potassium (GIK) during abdominal surgery can reduce serious complications in patients who do not have diabetes. About 106 adults took part to see if the treatment is practical and safe. The goal is to plan a larger study to confirm if GIK helps prevent harm from high blood sugar during surgery.
