New approach aims to ease breathing for critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT04524585

Summary

This study is testing a new way to use muscle-relaxing drugs for patients in the ICU with severe breathing failure who are on a ventilator. Instead of completely paralyzing the patient, doctors aim to use a lower dose to allow some safe, gentle breathing effort. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and practical, and if it can help protect the lungs while avoiding the risks of full paralysis.
