Brain scans reveal hidden clues in Parkinson's progression
NCT ID NCT02038608
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looked at how two brain chemicals, dopamine and serotonin, change over time in people with Parkinson's disease. Researchers used special PET scans to compare early, middle, and late-stage patients, as well as healthy volunteers. The goal was to better understand non-motor symptoms like mood changes, not to test a new treatment.
