Summary
This study tests whether coaching from experienced parents can help families of children who need a ventilator feel more empowered and confident before leaving the hospital. Parents of children with a tracheostomy and ventilator awaiting discharge in Illinois will receive one-on-one support from a parent coach. The goal is to see if this peer support improves their ability to advocate for their child and manage home nursing care.
