Chest muscle thickness may predict breathing tube success

NCT ID NCT07083128

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 64 adults on breathing machines to see if changes in a chest muscle (parasternal intercostal) could predict when the breathing tube could be safely removed. Researchers measured muscle thickness during breathing trials. The goal was to find a simple, non-invasive way to avoid failed extubation and its serious consequences.
