Paraffin oil may stop tourniquet burns in arm surgeries
NCT ID NCT07523958
First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether applying paraffin oil to the skin before using a tourniquet (a tight band that stops blood flow during surgery) can prevent skin injuries like redness, blisters, or burns. About 90 adults having arm surgery will be randomly assigned to get either the oil plus standard care or standard care alone. Researchers will check their skin right after the tourniquet is removed and again 30 and 60 minutes later.
