Shorter antibiotics after pancreatic surgery may cut hospital stays
NCT ID NCT04329039
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two approaches to prevent pancreatic leaks after Whipple surgery: giving antibiotics for a short time with a drug called octreotide versus giving antibiotics for a longer time. About 103 adults at intermediate or high risk for leaks will take part. The goal is to see if the shorter treatment reduces hospital stays and complications.
