Missing muscle may shield hands from dupuytren disease

NCT ID NCT06281509

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether people with Dupuytren disease (which causes lumps and cords in the palm) are more likely to have a small muscle called the palmaris longus. Researchers compared 243 adults—some with the disease and some without—to see if the muscle's presence is linked to the condition. The goal was to better understand what might make someone more prone to developing Dupuytren disease.
