Summary

The goal is to see if it's feasible and acceptable for patients. Forty adults undergoing stem cell transplants at Massachusetts General Hospital will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
palliative care training and support program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that training transplant doctors to provide palliative care helps patients cope better with symptoms and stress during their hospital stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 40 people, so it may not prove that the program actually improves outcomes. It also relies on doctors adding extra tasks, which may not work in all hospitals.
