First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested two types of nerve blocks (TAP and TFP) to see which provides better pain relief after a planned C-section. 90 women were randomly assigned to receive one of the blocks or no block at all. Researchers measured pain scores and how long until women needed extra pain medicine.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

nerve block procedure (TAP block or TFP block)

What this could lead to

If one block works better, it could lead to better pain control after C-section with less need for extra painkillers.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study. The results may not apply to all patients or settings, and nerve blocks carry small risks like bleeding or infection.
