New study aims to ease pain after gynecologic surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a nerve block given before surgery (TAP block) works as well as numbing medicine injected into the wound by the surgeon for controlling pain after gynecologic cancer surgery. About 80 women having surgery through a vertical belly cut will take part. The goal is to see which method reduces opioid use and pain scores in the first 24 hours after surgery.
