New pain block shows promise for hernia surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT06092073

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special nerve block (called recto-intercostal fascial plane block) can reduce pain after epigastric hernia repair. Forty adults having hernia surgery received either the nerve block or standard care. Researchers measured how long it took for patients to need extra pain medicine and how much pain they felt. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to manage pain after this common surgery.
