Double nerve block may cut pain after colon surgery

NCT ID NCT07280949

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two pain-block methods for people having laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Half the participants will get a standard abdominal wall block, while the other half gets that block plus an additional back block. The goal is to see if the combo reduces pain and the need for strong painkillers like morphine. The trial is currently recruiting 50 adults aged 18 to 90.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
nerve block procedure
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide better pain control and reduce opioid use after laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The added block may not improve pain relief enough to justify the extra procedure.
