Timing of pain pills after C-Section could reduce need for opioids

NCT ID NCT07102641

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two schedules for taking non-opioid pain relievers (acetaminophen and NSAIDs) after a cesarean delivery: taking them at different times (staggered) or at the same time (simultaneous). The goal is to see which approach better controls pain and reduces the need for stronger opioid drugs. The trial will enroll 825 women who have a C-section under regional anesthesia.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

acetaminophen and NSAIDs (ketorolac/ibuprofen)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could establish a simple, non-opioid dosing schedule to improve pain control after C-sections.

What could go wrong

This is a Phase 4 trial comparing two common approaches, so the difference may be small. Results may not apply to all patients or settings.
