First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special oxygen mask that covers both the mouth and nose works better than the usual nasal prongs for preventing low oxygen levels in children during an upper GI endoscopy (a camera test of the stomach). The trial included 114 children aged 6 to 16 who were having the procedure under sedation. The main goal was to see which method keeps oxygen levels higher and safer during the exam.
