New study banks ovarian tissue to unlock fertility secrets for young cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05440617

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study collects and stores ovarian tissue from females aged 4 to 35 who choose to freeze a sample before cancer treatment that could harm their fertility. Researchers will use a small portion of the tissue (no more than 20%) to study how ovaries work and what happens to fertility over time. Participants also fill out a yearly questionnaire for up to 30 years. The goal is to build a national database to better understand and improve fertility preservation.
