Can a simple breathing tool prevent lung collapse in cancer surgery patients?

NCT ID NCT05267496

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using a special breathing device (AEROBIKA) after chest surgery can help prevent lung collapse (atelectasis) in people with lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, or mesothelioma. About 72 participants will be randomly assigned to either standard rehab therapy or standard therapy plus the device. Researchers will compare how often lung collapse occurs and whether hospital stays or readmissions are reduced.
