New drug cocktail aims to tame rare bleeding disorder
NCT ID NCT07400250
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 study tests whether combining orelabrutinib (a targeted drug) with romiplostim (a platelet booster) can improve platelet counts in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who haven't responded well to standard treatments. About 28 participants will receive the combo for 24 weeks, with follow-up to 56 weeks. The goal is to see if this approach leads to more stable platelet levels and longer remission without rescue therapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Orelabrutinib (a targeted cancer drug) and romiplostim (a platelet-boosting drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could help ITP patients achieve stable platelet counts and possibly reduce or stop other treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (28 people) with no results yet. The combination may cause side effects or fail to improve outcomes.
