New scan trick could cut contrast dye use by 40% in lung clot tests
NCT ID NCT07342374
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a small change in how CT scans are done for people with suspected lung blood clots. By moving the scan's focus area to a different blood vessel, doctors aimed to use less contrast dye (30 ml instead of 50 ml) without losing image quality. The trial involved 72 adults and compared the new method to the standard one. The goal was to see if the new approach still gives clear pictures while reducing the amount of dye needed.
