Skin-to-Skin revolution: kangaroo care may slash sepsis in tiny preemies
NCT ID NCT05993442
First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether improving kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact) in hospital NICUs can reduce severe infections and sepsis in very premature babies (born before 32 weeks). About 3,080 high-risk infants across 32 hospitals will take part. Hospitals will be randomly assigned to either continue standard care or adopt an enhanced kangaroo care program, and researchers will track infection rates.
