MRI scan may forecast eye nerve damage after optic neuritis

NCT ID NCT03651362

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 46 people who had a first episode of optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve). Researchers used special MRI scans to measure the length of the damaged nerve area and then checked how much vision-related nerve loss occurred one year later. The goal was to see if the MRI could help predict long-term vision problems.
