New drug combo could replace ibuprofen for Post-Surgery pain
NCT ID NCT07620665
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two pain relief combinations after minimally invasive gallbladder removal: opiranserin plus acetaminophen versus ibuprofen plus acetaminophen. 88 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The goal is to see if the new combination controls pain just as well as the standard one.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
opiranserin plus acetaminophen
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new pain relief option after gallbladder surgery that avoids NSAIDs.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 88 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is designed to show non-inferiority, not superiority, so it may not prove opiranserin is better.
