Study tests if Over-the-Counter meds can replace opioids for Kids' pain

NCT ID NCT05640674

Summary

This study aimed to see if common over-the-counter pain medications (ibuprofen and acetaminophen) work as well as prescription opioids for children recovering from elbow fracture surgery. Researchers compared pain levels and medication use in 29 children randomly assigned to receive either opioid or non-opioid pain management after going home. The goal was to reduce unnecessary opioid prescriptions while still providing effective pain relief for young patients.
