New program aims to break the cycle of opioid addiction and incarceration for women

Summary
This study tested a comprehensive program to help women involved in the criminal justice system start and stay in opioid addiction treatment. The program included peer support, housing help, overdose training, and transportation or childcare. Half of the 42 women also joined a trauma support group. The goal was to see if this approach improves treatment retention and reduces drug use.
