First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested whether doctors in primary care clinics would use simple, step-by-step decision guides (called algorithms) to help patients with chronic pain who were misusing their opioid medications. The study involved 49 clinicians and lasted 6 to 9 months. The main goal was to see if the guides were easy for doctors to use and if they helped reduce risky opioid use.
