Opioid blocker shows promise in understanding low testosterone

NCT ID NCT04975334

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at how a drug that blocks opioids (naloxone) affects hormone signals in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a condition where the brain doesn't tell the testes to make enough testosterone. Twenty-three men participated, and researchers measured changes in a key hormone called luteinizing hormone. The goal was to better understand the brain's role in this condition, not to provide a treatment.
