Weighing in: new study tests if open scales ease eating disorder fears

NCT ID NCT06085092

First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether letting teens and young adults see their weight during treatment for eating disorders like anorexia helps reduce their fear of gaining weight. About 70 people aged 12-24 will be split into two groups: one that sees their weight and one that doesn't. Researchers will track changes in eating disorder symptoms, body image, and anxiety to see which approach works better.
