Can a home computer program help early Parkinson's patients move better?
NCT ID NCT06248073
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an online self-management program can help people with early-stage Parkinson's disease maintain their daily activities and quality of life as well as in-person task training. One hundred participants aged 45-70 will be split into three groups: online program, on-site training, or no treatment. The goal is to see if the online option is a practical alternative to clinic visits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
behavioral interventions: online self-management program and on-site task-related training
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that online self-management is as effective as in-person training, offering a convenient way for people with early Parkinson's to maintain daily function and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The online program's success depends on participants sticking with it at home, and there is no guarantee it will outperform no treatment.
