First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a four-week online self-compassion course can reduce diabetes-related distress, self-criticism, and shame in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Researchers will enroll 50 participants to see if the program is feasible and acceptable. The course includes weekly videos and exercises based on Compassionate Mind Training.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
online self-compassion training (Compassionate Mind Training)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a practical, low-cost way to help people with diabetes feel less distressed and be kinder to themselves.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply widely. The intervention is self-guided online, so engagement may vary.
