First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving ondansetron (an anti-nausea drug) before an unsedated emergency endoscopy for upper gastrointestinal bleeding can reduce patient discomfort and gagging. About 80 adults will receive either ondansetron or a placebo, and doctors will rate patient cooperation and procedure quality. The goal is to see if this simple medication can make the procedure easier for both patients and doctors.
